SENATORS HANG ON FOR RAINY 7-6 WIN
RHP Jordan Zimmermann got his first win at the Double-A level as the Harrisburg Senators trumped the Erie SeaWolves, 7-6, Sunday at Jerry Uht Park. RHP Zech Zinicola fired a scoreless 9th inning to notch his third save of the year and finish off a three-game sweep of the SeaWolves.

The Harrisburg Senators have some big doings both on and off the field this week. The Sens play two of their three in-state rivals this week, the Reading Phillies and Altoona Curve. The Senators lead the Southern Division of the Eastern League with a 23-13 record.

Senators left hander Cory VanAllen has been named the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher of the Week. VanAllen was outstanding in his first two AA starts this week with the Senators, including throwing seven shut out innings against the Erie SeaWolves in Erie on Saturday night.

1B DIMITRI YOUNG EXPECTED TO REHAB WITH SENS
Washington Nationals 1B Dmitri Young, a 2007 National League All-Star, is expected to join the Harrisburg Senators for a rehab stint beginning Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park when the Senators open a six-game homestand Tuesday at 6:05 PM against the Reading Phillies.

DESMOND LOOKS TO ERASE BAD MEMORIES
On a blustery, gray Saturday afternoon at Commerce Bank Park, there are two hours until the first pitch of that night’s game against the Reading Phillies as Senators’ shortstop Ian Desmond readies himself at home plate during batting practice. Desmond deliberately wriggles into his stance, crouching low with his legs spread wide almost to the point of looking awkward, waiting for the next pitch from manager John Stearns. A few seconds later, Desmond drills a wicked line drive into the deep right-center field gap, the crack of the bat drawing the attention of three baseball scouts sitting in the box seats behind first base.
