COMMUNITY MISSION STATEMENT“WE LIVE HERE…WE PLAY HERE”…The Harrisburg Senators use these words to describe how important the local community is to our organization. We are very proud of our involvement in our surrounding communities and continue to strive to contribute to the growth, enjoyment and education of our fans and their families through our participation in local events and our outreach programs. In our 21 seasons here in Harrisburg, the Senators have been able to participate in hundreds of activities in our community. Each year we strive to do more to enhance our community with involvement in educational programs, recreational business networking and fund raising. Our players, front office staff and mascots, Rascal and Grrrounder, have visited countless schools, youth sporting events, charitable functions and various other events in Central Pennsylvania, sharing their vision of “why it’s important to be a good neighbor.” SCHOOLS: Over the years our Reading Club and Most Improved Student (MIS) programs have given thousands of Elementary, Middle & High School children an outlet to not only learn, but to have fun and enjoy a game-night with us at Commerce Bank Park. The underlying aspect of these programs, besides providing fun for all, is to help educate our young people by providing a positive incentive for them to read and do well in school. COMMUNITY EVENTS & FAN JAM: Rascal and Grrrounder, our players, coaching staff, front office and Fan Jam have been able to visit local civic and business organizations, parades, festivals, community events and schools. The Senators’ Fan Jam is a high energy community outreach team that is available for events in the surrounding area. Fan Jam consists of four members and can be found with the prize wheel, Rascal and Grrrounder, and the speed pitch all over the Harrisburg area providing quality entertainment in the community! GROUP TICKET & PROGRAM SALES: Countless church and youth groups, school choruses and bands, neighborhood associations, business groups, Little Leagues and others have taken advantage of our Group Ticket and Program Sales to spend time at the ballpark. Our Group Ticket program allows a group to sell tickets to their event at the ballpark and keep a portion of the proceeds for their organization. The group also has an option to sell programs at the stadium on the night of their event and keep a proportion of the money made to benefit their organization. A night at a Senators game will help enhance the sense of community we all enjoy so much! THEME NIGHTS & JERSEY AUCTIONS: Several annual “Theme Nights” are scheduled again this season. We help to bring the local business community together with promotions like “Bald is Beautiful”, which benefits the American Cancer Society and Hope Lodge in Hershey, and our annual “Paint the Park Pink” night which is a team effort with the Senators and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition. The Senators players wear specially designed jerseys throughout the season that are auctioned off after the game to benefit local community organizations. The jerseys are worn in conjunction with various theme nights throughout the season. DONATIONS: Is your group or organization planning a fund raising event? Would you like to help generate some publicity for your event? The Senators Community Relations Department will be happy to consider helping you with your mission by donating tickets, merchandise or providing a player or mascot for an appearance.
