SENATORS SNAP LOSING STREAK WITH 2-1 WIN
Casto and Whitesell homer in the win
On a hot and muggy Monday night in front of 2,109 fans, the Senators got back on the winning side of things with a 2-1 win over the Connecticut Defenders. The Senators only had three hits, but two of them were home runs. Kory Casto hit a two-out home run in the first and Josh Whitesell hit a one-out home run in the fifth to account for the two Sens runs. Whitesell had the other hit, a single in the eight inning. Kip Bouknight started for the Senators and pitched seven strong innings, scattering six hits while striking out seven and walking two. Danny Rueckel pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 innings for his first save of the season. With the win the Senators improve to 48-46 on the season while Connecticut falls to 46-50. Game two of the series is Tuesday night at 6:35pm. The game can be heard on 1460 The Ticket and through the Senators website beginning at 6:20pm.
