SENATORS SHUT OUT BY READING 2-0
Four game winning streak comes to an end
On Friday night in Reading, the Senators again received strong starting pitching, but no offense, and fell 2-0 to the Reading Phillies. It's the third time in eight losses the Senators have been shut out. Kip Bouknight started for the Senators and picked right up from where the other Senators starters left off, throwing five shut out innings and extending the Senators starting pitching shut out streak to 34.2 innings. He was finally touched for two runs in the sixth inning, giving up a lead off walk and then a triple as Reading broke through. The Senators had one good chance to score, putting two runners on base with one out in the seventh inning, but could not come through with a much needed hit. Salomon Manriquez went hitless and his 10-game hitting streak came to end as he was in the on-deck circle when the last out was made. The Senators and Phillies play game two of the series on Saturday night at 6:05pm with LHP Oscar Alvarez going for the Senators against Phillies LHP Allen Davis. The game can be heard on 1460 The Ticket beginning at 5:50pm.
